Sew-Away 2025

We know how much you all love sewing retreats and we have an excellent opportunity planned for this September. Hollowberry Manor, a brand new craft retreat center, opened this year in Cheyenne, Wyoming. We will have the entire manor to ourselves from Sep 17-21. Housed in a historic home, the facility offers comfortable bedrooms, a spacious and well-equipped kitchen for our meals, and a large craft room with individual table space for you to set up your machine and lose yourself in stitching paradise! The cost of $450 covers your room, unlimited access to the kitchen and sewing space, and your meals. Space is limited so click the link here to print the registration form and send it with your payment today.

Fabric Sale 2025

The 2025 Fabric Sale on Saturday, March 29th, was a great success. The efforts by our members to spread the word in the community paid off. The sale was well attended and a large amount of donated fabric found new homes with area sewists. Thanks to all of our members who put in time before the sale in advertising and helping to set up, and those who helped during and after the sale. We could not have done it without you!

Sew-In 2024

The annual Sew-In retreat in Westminster was held again in January and was another great success. Shout out to Karen Marrill for taking on the organization of this event. From altering pants to quilt blocks to quilt bindings, dozens of projects were tackled while enjoying conversation and laughter. See just a few of their projects below. And keep an eye on Groupworks and your email because there may be another Sew-In scheduled later this year. What a fun way to get those holiday gifts, UFOs (unfinished objects) and new outfits completed!

2023 Fabric Sale

The 2023 Denver Sewing Guild fabric sale was held on September 16th this year with great success . Shoppers were able to buy notions, books, patterns, and many beautiful fabrics, including some exceptional quality wools and silks, for the ridiculous price of $2.00 a yard. One person went home with a terrific sewing machine for at an unbelievable price.

Shout out to all of those who volunteered before, during and after the sale. We would love to see more of our fellow Guild members at next year’s sale to help set up, take down, or just shop and support our chapter. Please keep an eye out for notifications of the 2024 sale and come join the fun!

Denver Guild Members on the Runway

The American Sewing Guild National Convention in New York City in July 2023 was a wonderful event. In addition to the educational and fun classes taught by a wide variety of instructors, there was so much shopping in the Garment District!

Two of our Denver Sewing Guild members, Pat Pearce and Ann Dodd, modeled their own stunning outerwear creations in the ASG Fashion Show. Way to show off those creative skills!

Sew-In 2023

The Denver Sewing Guild held the annual sewing retreat again this year at Springhill Suites in Westminster. Fifteen ladies spent 5 days and 4 nights of sewing bliss sharing projects, handy tips, and laughter.

Jan McMinn coordinates this event and again did a great job arranging for the conference room, hotel rooms for those who stayed overnight, and lots of snacks to fuel everyone’s creativity. Shout out to Jan for the time and effort she devotes to this annual event!

Make a note on your calendar to join this fun event next time!

Annual Meeting and Fabric Sale

We had a great time on Saturday, October 29th, at the annual meeting of the Denver Sewing Guild and fabric sale. In a brief meeting we re-elected the Chapter Advisory Board with President Cathy Georgerian again at the helm. Then it was on to shopping.

Tables were loaded with various types of fabric, patterns, books, notions, and other items. Some lucky folks even found beautiful antique buttons to take home.

Thank you to all of the volunteers who arrived early and stayed late to help us set up and take down the sale. It is true that many hands make for lighter work, and these great folks also made the work fun!

Stay tuned for the next sale in 2023. If you or someone you know has fabric or other sewing items to donate, please contact Cathy Georgerian or Heather Sowell.
